April was a busy month in marketing, from Google misreporting impressions to LinkedIn updates, all you need to know is compiled into your monthly-delivered news roundup with Daffodil Marketing.
Google Search Console overreports impressions
Google Search Console has confirmed a long-standing error causing the overreporting of impressions since the 13th of May 2025, which is currently being fixed. If you noticed a sudden drop in impressions in your Performance report, this is more likely to be a fix of inflated reporting rather than a genuine decline in traffic, as clicks and position won’t be affected.
LinkedIn updates
April on LinkedIn has brought about numerous changes to the way its algorithm works and to how best to get seen. Let’s take a look:
- The algorithm is now prioritising semantic relevance and the meaning of content rather than just keywords and likes. LinkedIn has noticeably been overtaken by AI slop, so this change will push more meaningful content.
- New features are being tested on Premium Company Pages to improve brand visibility.
- They are introducing a new way for brands to partner with creators. Think influencer partnerships, but through LinkedIn. They have introduced new tools for partnership and are expanding their creator programmes, adding more ways for brands to partner with them directly.
- Conversational AI search makes searching easier on LinkedIn. What was once a Premium-only launch has now trickled down to everyone.
LinkedIn is shifting, pushing authentic, user-generated content over the AI slop that once covered its feed.

And she’ll never ask for a raise” alongside another that stated: “Meet your new AI employee. Always on, never sick and no HR required.”
The human touch is necessary in marketing, and oversight can be detrimental. This is an example of the fact that cutting corners can often cost more in the long run…
